Reviews guide
How to read Parmesan tour reviews
A 5.0 average built on 10 reviews and a 4.87 average built on 649 reviews are not equally trustworthy signals — the larger sample is far less likely to swing with the next few bookings. Rather than compare star ratings alone, look at review count, whether the figure combines Viator and Tripadvisor sources, and how recently the tour has been actively booked.

How to read the numbers
In our own shortlist, Tour Parmigiano Reggiano Dairy and Parma Ham carries the largest sample at 649 combined reviews, split 379 on Viator and 270 on Tripadvisor, averaging 4.87/5. By contrast, Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma Ham and Castle Private Tour & Tasting shows a perfect 5.00/5 but from only 10 reviews — genuinely positive, but a much smaller and more recent sample that could move with the next handful of bookings.
- Treat ratings under ~20 reviews as an early signal, not a settled verdict.
- A combined Viator + Tripadvisor figure draws on two independent review pools, which is a stronger signal than either alone.
- Read a handful of the actual written reviews on the official listing for recurring themes (meeting point clarity, guide language, pacing), not just the star average.

How we verified this: Prices shown were checked against live Viator Partner API listings on 2026-07-14. Duration, cancellation terms, group-size limits and review counts were re-checked against the same API on 2026-07-31. Prices and availability change; always confirm the current figure on the official tour listing before booking.
Frequently asked questions
Is a tour with 600+ reviews always better than one with 10?
Not necessarily on quality, but it does mean a much larger sample size, which makes the average rating more statistically stable. A tour with 10 reviews averaging 5.0 could easily average lower once 50 more people have taken it; a tour with 600+ reviews is less likely to swing much with a few more.
Why do some tours show two different review sources?
Some Viator listings aggregate reviews from both Viator's own platform and Tripadvisor, showing each source's count and average alongside a combined figure. Where a listing only has Viator reviews, we show that alone.
Should I avoid a tour with very few reviews?
Not automatically — it may simply be newer or less widely marketed, not lower quality. Weigh a low review count against other factors (clear listing details, reasonable cancellation terms) rather than treating it as a red flag by itself.
